3 of the biggest mistakes of Star Trek's Nu Trek Era

The Borg's plan in Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek's The Next Generation and Voyager did a good job looking at, exploring, and resolving their plots with The Borg. The Next Generation wrapped up Jean-Luc Picard's story with them beautifully in Star Trek: First Contact, while Voyager not only wrapped up Kathryn Janeway's feud with the cybernetic zombies but seemingly ended them for good. Yet, the revival series that was Picard just had to bring them back.
Starting in the show's second season, the Borg Queen was back and trying to weasel her way into the hearts of minds of everyone around her. Thanks to some wonky writing, the Borg Queen ends up becoming "good" through time travel and random shenanigans. It wasn't great, but it was a storyline that ended as quickly as it began.
Come season three, however, the Borg Queen from season two was forgotten bout, in place of the original queen coming back. Revealed to still be alive after the events of First Contact and hanging around for years to finally get the Federation and Picard under her control, the Queen comes up with a plan to implant Borg nanomachines into everyone by contaminating transporters. When called upon to finally strike, however, she only activated them in the youngest members of Starfleet.
She easily could've wiped out her biggest foes, but opted to only get the youngest of the Federation under her control. It was a poorly written idea, made even worse by bringing back The Borg Queen. Easily one of the franchise's best villains. While seeing Alice Krige the woman who played her, was great it was a story that didn't need to happen.
