3 characters from Star Trek: Voyager we'd love to see in a third season of Star Trek: Prodigy
By Chad Porto
Star Trek: Voyager has really found a second life these days. The show had a rebound on Netflix and new fans came in and saw the wonder that was Voyager. Now, with a whole new slate of shows and a whole new fandom to embrace them, it seems like the cast and characters of the franchise are being embraced all over again.
We've seen so many of the characters get reprised on other shows so far. Jeri Ryan and Tim Russ have popped up on Star Trek: Picard as Seven of Nine and Tuvok respectively. Robert Duncan McNeill returned as a version of Tom Paris on Star Trek: Lower Decks. We've also gotten Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran, and Robert Picardo returning as Kathryn Janeway, Chakotay, and The Doctor respectively for Star Trek: Prodigy.
So far that leaves just four core characters from the franchise that we have yet to see. These are the three we'd love to see in a third season of Prodigy.
Neelix
While some may not like Neelix, I would hazard a guess that's because they saw the first few seasons of the series and that was all. While he was with Kes, he was hard to like. Yet, after she left the ship, Neelix became a much more friendlier, light-hearted character. Something they should've done from the start. Bringing back Neelix and his new Talaxian family for the third season of Prodigy would give fans a chance to see that change can happen and characters can be redeemed.
B'Elanna Torres
Having played a crucial role on Star Trek: Voyager, B'Elanna Torres proved to be a capable engineer for seven years. Now, likely retired, she could prove to be invaluable herself to the crew on Prodigy. We'd love to see her with Tom Paris and their child(ren), but we'll take just her if we can only get one.
Harry Kim
Captain Harry Kim. Do it. Jokes aside, the fact Kim never got promoted on Voyager is silly and fun to think about. What would even be funnier is if on Prodigy, we see Kim get promoted, finally, from Ensign to lieutenant. 30 years later. It'd be the greatest joke ever.
