1. Star Trek 4
A recent report from Deadline whipped up some excitement by confirming that Star Trek 4 is still chugging along in development. Paramount Studios, like a proud parent, is super keen to roll out the red carpet for what could be the grand finale of the most gorgeous Kirk ever in Chris Pine's star-studded Trek adventures. But it's not all smooth sailing in the Starfleet.
The original plan was to have this blockbuster light up our Christmas in 2023. But director Matt Shakman left and, suddenly, it felt like a game of musical chairs with Hollywood hotshots like Chris Hemsworth and Quentin Tarantino also exiting stage left. The project, which has been simmering since 2016, now seems like a sci-fi soup that's still looking for the right chef.
There's been a bit of radio silence on who's taking the director's chair next for Star Trek 4, and here's the kicker: Chris gorgeous Pine, mentioned back in November 2023 that he hadn't heard a peep about the project. It's like the cast is always the last to know when it comes to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek universe.
Until we get some official news about when Star Trek 4 is set to start rolling cameras, it might be wise to not get too hyped about seeing Chris Pine's lovely face hitting the big screens as Kirk again anytime soon.
