There's been no official announcement that the Seth MacFarlane-created sci-fi series, The Orville, has been renewed for a fourth season, but there have been reports from unofficial sources that it is, indeed, happening.
According to Space.com, at Star Trek Las Vegas, Scott Grimes confirmed that the fourth season of the series is set to begin pre-production in 2025. On top of that, The Planetary Union Network which is The Orville's official fan podcast posted on Reddit that Grimes' announcement was true.
"Seth [MacFarlane, the show's creator] hasn't made an official announcement on any of his direct social media, but we do work directly for production/him. S4 is happening. No one can give an accurate timeline on when it will release yet, though.""
And following up with that, Colin Krapp, who is the administrator for The Orville fan group on Facebook, which has over 70,000 members, gave a shout out to Scott Grimes and a huge thank you to the actor for saying something he {Krapp] had known for a month—"Production for season four of the series is set to begin in January 2025."
Many fans are questioning why there has been no official announcement yet, especially with the series set to begin production in four months. Granted, that is pre-production and not filming which means building the sets and the like. So that might not mean all of the actors' contracts have been signed.
No one seems to have video evidence of Grimes making the confirmation, and I've been unable to locate it myself, but there have been plenty of comments from folks on Twitter/X who were present at the convention and confirmed the announcement. On top of that, J. Lee did mention on the Youtube channel Blerd's Eyeview just a month ago that they would be coming back for season four.
Of course, until an official announcement is made, we'll just have to treat these as hopeful announcements.
