Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is going where no other series has gone before with Spock . The unrequited love Nurse Christine Chapel had for Leonard Nimoy's Spock on Star Trek: The Original Series was explored briefly in Strange New Worlds, and though the pair separated when Jess Bush's version of Chapel chose her career over their relationship, their connection remains strong.
But first, Spock had a developing romance and an engagement with T'Pring , which was never explored on The Original Series. In fact, the pair hadn't seen each other since they were children. Strange New Worlds went in another direction and gave the pair a romance from the beginning which didn't last.
But there was also one more potential love interest for Spock on The Original Series—Lt. Uhura . Though nothing came of the romance, there was clearly strong attraction between the two, and, in J.J. Abrams' Kelvin Timeline movies, the relationship was explored. It went through some trials and even ended briefly before the couple found their way back to one another in Star Trek: Beyond.
With Cillian O'Sullivan joining Strange New Worlds as Roger Korby in season three, we know that the series will explore the relationship between him and Nurse Chapel, which doesn't leave much room for Spock. So will this be an opening for Spock and Uhura?
So far, there doesn't seem to be romantic tension between Uhura and Spock, and she is considerably younger on this version of Star Trek, essentially just now finding her way as a Starfleet officer. Spock is a higher-ranking officer which could cause potential issues, but that didn't stop the couple in the Chris Pine led movies when Zachary Quinto's Spock and Zoe Saldana's Uhura had a serious relationship that seemed to work, although some fans might disagree.
If Strange New Worlds chooses not to pursue that relationship, hopefully, they will still connect Spock with someone before he becomes the loner he was on The Original Series. He has plenty of time to become the restricted Vulcan on that Enterprise. Right now, he could do with some love from someone who doesn't break his heart.
