Section 31 debuts trailer to extremely negative reaction

One of the more controversial concepts that Paramount has cooked up in some time remains as such. Star Trek: Section 31 has debuted its new trailer and fans aren't loving it. There is a fraction of the fanbase that seems to enjoy the mood and atmosphere, but it comes off as wholly un-Star Trek. Something not lost on many people.

The general discourse online is that this trailer misses what Section 31 is, and tries to turn it into a snarky action-comedy that falls flat. The like-to-dislike ratio on YouTube is a clear sign this isn't a Star Trek fan's idea of a good film. The trailer has 3.1k likes to 32k dislikes (courtesy of the Return YouTube Dislike app).

It's done a great job uniting the fandom. Be it YouTube comments, Reddit posts, or online Twitter discourse, fans hate this trailer. No one knows who it's made for and it doesn't even retain the same energy as Discovery. Moreover, Section 31 is a group of authoritative, oppressive, torturers, who embody everything wrong with Starfleet.

Fans were never truly on board with this film.
