Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has done a great job getting the franchise back on track with traditional Trek storytelling. The show features characters from the past, filling in the gaps between Star Trek's Discovery and the Original Series. This has caused a majority of fans to sing the praises of the series and embrace its optimistic, yet drama-laden atmosphere.

It's simply become one of the best shows in Trek's history. Part of that is its tone, its writing, and its ability to explore the past of the franchise while writing its own story. Sure, it borrows a low from the original series in the franchise, but the series doesn't pretend that it's not doing so. They know they're a prequel show, a direct prequel show, to that of the original series.

So it's not surprising that they're tying themselves into their past/future selves. We've seen original series characters like the Kirk brothers, Dr. M'Banga, Nurse Chapel, Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, Uhura, Spock, and Captain Pike all either take center stage or pop up from time to time.

They're not the only ones, however, as we saw last month via Variety that more are coming. In the below video, Henry Alonso Myers reveals (quote via Inverse) that a few more characters from TOS will be making their debut in Strange New Worlds.

"“These characters are not the people that they will become when we get to The Original Series. They are still younger. They are going through things. They have a lot of life and lessons to go through. They have some growth to do so you don’t see them exactly the way that you would see them later on.”

We already know that Roger Korby from the original series episode, "What Little Girls Are Made Of" will be debuting in the show. Who else could be popping up? Some think it could be Hikaru Sulu and or Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy. Both are possible, though I think only one of those will pop up. It's far more likely we get a non-Starfleet version of Pavel Checkov, and maybe a former, albeit minor villain.

Maybe a certain beloved Romulan could pop up at the end of season three to set up season four.
