Star Trek: Discovery's return date and final season schedule revealed
By Chad Porto
Star Trek: Discovery is finally setting course for its series finale. A show that was the launching point of the Nu Trek Era, which produced such bangers as Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, will shut its nacelles down finally after nearly seven years. The ship's last adventure was announced for April of 2024 in a more recent trailer, but the actual date wasn't given.
Now fans of the franchise have finally received the show's release date for its final season. The show, which last aired on March 17, 2022, will wrap things up nearly two-plus years later, as the series will begin its final chapter on April 4, 2024. The release date will see the first two episodes be posted to Paramount+.
Those two episodes are called "Red Directive" and "Under the Twin Moons", and are being credited as being written by Michelle Paradise, and Alan McElroy respectively. Though likely with the help of the Discovery writer's room, one would hope.
The director of the first two episodes hasn't been revealed yet, but we do know that Lee Rose is directing the fourth episode, "Face the Strange".
The final two episodes of the series will be directed by Jonathan Frakes and Olatunde Osunsanmi, respectively, with Frakes taking over the 9th episode of the series' final season "Lagrange Point" and Osunsanmi directing the finale, "Life, itself".
