Star Trek embraces Taylor Swift thanks in part to Patton Oswalt

Star Trek isn't exactly known for its celebrity love affair. While many of the more famous people in the world love Star Trek to some degree, it's not like Marvel or Star Wars where the stars are out celebrating it on an endless loop. Star Trek has a more quieter love affair and we adore the franchise more and more for it.
One of the more famous people who has found himself working on the series is Patton Oswalt. A comedian, actor, and overall nerd-aficionado, was brought on to help write a portion of the anthology Star Trek issue, #500, via IDW. He co-wrote a segment of the anthology issue alongside Jordan Blum about Tribbles.
In the issue, the Tribbles are depicted as being that of a shared mind, a lot like the Borg. Yet, unlike the Borg, the Tribbles can seemingly transfer their conciseness from form to form. It makes their longevity even more impressive, considering that the mind of a Tribble can never really die. Now, the comics are not as tight with lore as the show. Things introduced in the comics are often being rebooted in the show, flat-out ignored, or having the franchise acknowledge that the comics are not exactly canon to the franchise at large.
Sometimes they are, though. So we're not sure if this is going to be the new norm for the furriest among the Star Trek aliens but it is an interesting theory.
Now for the Taylor Swift of it all. The mini-story that popped up in IDW's 500 issue of Star Trek is a play on a famous Swift song. The title is "I Knew You Were Tribble When You Walked in". It's an obvious play off of the 2012 song by Swift, "I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In" off of the mega stars 2012 release, Red.
