Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted in 1987 and brought with it a brand new crew for the Enterprise. Some fans of Star Trek: The Original Series vowed not to watch it while others, who were dearly missing the adventures of Star Trek altogether, decided to give it a chance. After some struggles in the first year and some bumps in the second, The Next Generation made its way into a steady rhythm that lasted seven seasons, spawned four movies, and a spin-off with Star Trek: Picard. And it continues to hold onto its fan base after all of these years which is why a display at San Diego Comic Con is a must see if you're in the area.

According to CinemaBlend's Mick Joest, Captain Jean-Luc Picard's is on display for all to see. It, unsurprisingly, has a sign that prohibits anyone from sitting in it as that would be most fans' first instinct. (I know that's what I did when I saw Discovery's captain's chair on the Star Trek cruise!)

And, according to Joest, it's absolutely free to see the chair, and the other props, which include Geordi's visor, and Data's [Brent Spiner] hat and pipe from his time spent in the Enterprise's holodeck as Sherlock Holmes.

The combined Star Trek/Doctor Who art is best seen in a larger format as it truly is a work of art! Again, these items are available to be seen for free outside of the San Diego Convention Center. Comic-Con through Sunday, July 28th so you still have a couple of days to see these treasures even if you aren't attending any of the many events! It's a chance to see a part of history that you might not be able to see again for a very long time!
