As an incredible way to bookend the final season of Star Trek: Picard, the series picked up a Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction TV Series with production designer, Dave Blass, sharing the news on Twitter/X while adding his congratulations.

Terry Matalas, the showrunner for Picard, called the win "an incredible honor," adding that he'd wanted one of the awards since he was a kid reading Starlog Magazine. He was joined onstage by sweveral of the third season cast members including Sir Patrick Stewart, Michelle Hurd, Jeri Ryan, and Todd Stashwick, and you can watch his acceptance speech in the clip above.

This brings Star Trek: The Next Generation full circle as it brought home Saturn Awards for Best Television Series in both 1988 and 1991, which just goes to show Matalas knew what he was doing when he brought the team back together.

Very few people have anything negative to say about the final season of Picard as not only did it reunite The Next Generation team, it gave them all purpose and unique storylines. There wasn't one superflous character in the entire ten episodes, and Matalas made sure every second of each episode counted. So it's no surprise to us fans that the series won this award.

While we congratulate the team, we also hope to see so much more from not only Matalas but from the cast and crew of Star Trek: Picard, whether they be reunited onscreen again or in separate endeavors. As for Matalas, he's definitely found his niche in television, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that Paramount gives him the reins of another Star Trek series!
