Once upon a time it would have been unthinkable to bring animated characters to live action, but that was way before animation got as exceptional as it has. Now, we hear the voices behind these characters and wonder what they could do onscreen as a live version of that character. It's something Gamespot recently brought up in a conversation at San Diego Comic Con with Star Trek; Prodigy's creators, Kevin and Dan Hageman, Kate Mulgrew, and Brett Gray.

Gray was asked what it would take to get him into prostethics as a live-action version of Dal, and he was quick to respond with "someone to ask me to do it. I'm ready." This is something the Hagemans want to explore as well as a possible movie so we're looking at something that could be a possibility down the road.

Gray remains excited about Prodigy, even stating in the interview that he knows he can turn someone into a Star Trek fan now. All he has to do is point them toward the first episode of the first season of Prodigy. He says "I know for a fact you're going to like Star Trek after this."

Season two of Prodigy dropped on Netflix on July 1st, and fan response was overwhelmingly positive. Viewers want more, but in order to get that, Netflix has to renew the show for a third season. If that doesn't happen, there are still other options outside of an animated series, including a live-action series. The end of one iteration doesn't close the door on them all, and Kevin and Dan Hageman are committed to this series as are the actors.
