Star Trek: Strange New Worlds could use T'Pol but they don't need her

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is beyond the "need" of another franchise character.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is arguably the best show the franchise has produced since it returned to regular weekly episodes in 2017 with Discovery. Strange New Worlds is a continuation of sorts of the original pilot for Star Trek, one that involved Christopher Pike, Una Chin Riley, and Spock. It's for that reason that the show has found an audience. That and it's mostly stellar writing. It's a show that has created and cultivated numerous original characters while providing a new look at the iconic stars that would come to be.

It's a show that doesn't need the stars of yesteryear to feature on their show, and while they've had Spock, Nyota Uhura, James T. Kirk, and Montgomery Scott all feature on the show in some way, it's not out of necessity. Aside from Spock. It's just an easy avenue to explore famous characters before they were the complete package.

It's a show that doesn't need to feature the stars of the past like Lower Decks and to a lesser extent, Prodigy does. Almost reliant on guest stars and former starring members of the franchise, those two shows would likely crumble without those featured characters, but Strange New Worlds has done a great job creating unique and likable original characters that would actually probably be better off without the weight of the legacy characters they're paired with.

The last thing the show needs is more of that weight, and so we're letting Looper know we don't agree with them when they say that T'Pol of Star Trek: Enterprise needs to be part of the series. So we're clear, Voyager is my favorite show, followed by Enterprise and then Strange New Worlds. I'd normally be down for the idea of getting some more Enterprise characters in something modern, but with the current situation of past characters popping up on Strange New Worlds, the last thing they need is to be swamped with even more legacy characters.

Even if T'Pol and Pike would make for a wonderful interaction.
