Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' "Subspace Rhapsody" could be coming to the stage
Season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds brought fans the very first Star Trek musical, and while some weren't as excited about all the singing, others were impressed and looking forward to a potential second musical. Overall, the episode was well-received, helped by the strong vocals of the series' cast which included Celia Rose Gooding, Christina Chong, and Rebecca Romijn. Apparently, so much so that Akiva Goldsman feels the episode could be successful on the Broadway stage, teling Trekmovie that the possibility is being explored. How much has been explored, though, we probably won't know anytime soon as Goldsman says they are in the "very early stages."
"You’ll be interested to know that we are in the very early stages of exploring whether or not we can bring a version of that [“Subspace Rhapsody”] to the stage. "

For those fans who are thinking this couldn't possibly happen, there are plenty of reasons to believe that it could. Once upon a time, no one thought a musical episode for Star Trek would ever happen. And here we are.
On top of that, let's look where Trek has gone now since Star Trek: Discovery debuted in 2017. We've had a Rick and Morty type of animation with Star Trek: Lower Decks, the first Trek series that wasn't about a captain with Star Trek: Prodigy, and a streaming movie that's about the clandestine agency, Section 31, that was, once upon a time, something that wasn't allowed to be discussed. So is a Star Trek Broadway musical really outside the realm of possibility?
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this musical does come to the Broadway stage, and it would be interesting to see who is chosen to play the parts of the respective crew.
