It’s day one aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas as we set sail for the 7th annual Star Trek Cruise. The ship is decked out in all things Trek, welcoming new and experienced Trekkies alike aboard. And there is something for everyone scheduled, whether it’s the movie-buff who’d prefer to hang out by the pool and catch Star Trek movies or those who are interested in learning more about this vast universe of ours!

There will be trivia, karaoke, a sing-a-long, a welcome show with Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton, a themed Gorn Warp party, and a Star Trek movie under the stars that will feature Star Trek 2009. And that’s just for today! We have six more full days of fun, and the days’ schedules are packed with opportunities to share your love of Star Trek with Trekkies, make new friends, and reunite with old ones. And, of course, having fun with favorite Star Trek actors!

The ship set sail as the celebrity cruisers were announced , and the guests greeted the crowd with their own, unique brand of humor. The applause was deafening. It was something you have to see to believe. And it's not too early to start thinking about next year's cruise, but you probably should start thinking about your costume. Maybe you could be one of the lucky ones to win Q's Costume Contest if it comes onboard next year.

Overall, the first day aboard is off to a grand start, and if you've ever considered joining the cruise, I'm here to tell you there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't and every reason why you should!
