We finally know when Star Trek: Lower Decks is coming to screens

Star Trek: Lower Decks will close the year out with its final season. The animated series has produced five seasons of animated comedy, which has found a niche portion of the fandom. It's become a series that some hardcore fans adore, but despite that, the series has been canceled. The series will say goodbye to their fans this year, joining other series like Discovery and Picard as shows that were canceled by Paramount+.

Prodigy, the other Star Trek animated series, was also canceled but got a second season pick up at Netflix. Only time will tell if there's a third season in store for the series, or if it'll join Lower Decks in cancelation.

For fans of Lower Decks, however, you won't have to wait long for the fifth and final season of the show, as its premiere date was announced at the 2024 edition of San Diego Comic-Con. The annual convention hosted several different Star Trek panels, with a variety of information being revealed during every panel.

During the Lower Decks portion of the Star Trek Universe panel, the trailer for the fifth and final season of the show premiered. During the trailer, we see highlights of the first four seasons, with the various characters the crew had met along the way popping up, as well as some of the more memorable adventures before jump-cutting to the fifth season preview.

During the fifth-season preview portion, we saw alternate reality members of the USS Cerritos arriving to stand face to face with their counterparts, as well as some typical Lower Decks branded comedy peppered about.

The series released a solid trailer, one that will hopefully get fans excited for the next trailer, likely to come out around September if we had to guess. Yet, the big takeaway from everything was the reveal of the season five premiere date; October 24, 2024.
