We now know when Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will begin production

Hopefully, if everything works out for Star Trek, their newest show "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" will actually begin production. With the state of Paramount a constant ongoing issue, we have no idea if a show will ever actually make it to air. After all, we've seen such radical readjustments due to financial woes, like Section 31 being shrunk from a show to a film and the cancelation of Star Trek: Prodigy mid-production.
Now, the Section 31 change is speculation on our part, and there isn't a for sure reason why the change was made, but clearly, something caused it to change. Why? We're not sure, but we now know that the world of entertainment, and Star Trek specifically is an unpredictable beast.
We see it all the time now and so we're constantly worried about if something is ever actually coming out. With recent trends in Hollywood, we don't know if something is ever going to come out until it actually starts airing, as we've seen time and time again projects being shelved after they're completed, all for tax purposes.
So when we get reports, like this from Variety, that tell us when something is going to begin production, we get skeptical and worried about whether the show will ever actually come out. For right now, however, Starfleet Academy is set to debut when it's done being filmed.
Variety reports that the show will start production this summer, will have the single-largest set ever created and will follow the new class of cadets out of Starfleet Academy. It's supposed to take place in the 32nd century but those are rumors so far, we'll see where the show ends up landing in the timeline when it comes out.
A lot of the cast and crew are still unknown, though Discovery's Mary Wiseman is supposed to be a part of the series, but that may be nothing more than a rumor. We'll find out more when the production actually begins.
