Find out how Star Trek fared at this year's ceremony.
Going into the 53rd annual Saturn Awards on Sunday night (March 8), Trekkies already knew that Star Trek was going to be honored with the Hall of Fame Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films. And it was wonderful watching Next Generation alums Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes introduce William Shatner early in the show before everyone attached to Trek in attendance later joined Robert Picardo on stage for the Hall of Fame Saturn presentation.
Plus, it was previously announced that Star Trek: Picard showrunner and executive producer Terry Matalas would be honored with the prestigious Robert Forster Artist’s Award. Again, it was another highpoint of the evening. However, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds also had the opportunity to pick up a total of four trophies, despite a lackluster third season.
Strange New Worlds was nominated for Best Science Fiction Television Series, and three of SNW’s stars, including Ethan Peck (Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series), Christina Chong (Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series), and Paul Wesley (Best Guest Star in a Television Series), were all up for Saturn trophies.
In an incredibly heated competition, Strange New Worlds lost the Best Science Fiction Television Series honor to the Star Wars prequel Andor. However, it was one of the toughest fields of candidates in recent memory, which included these other worthy nominees: The Ark, Foundation, Severance, and Silo.
Now, here is how the rest of Saturn Awards panned out for Star Trek at this year's ceremony. (Continued on page 2...)
