Since Section 31 is no longer clandestine, is the secret agency even needed?

We first learned of Section 31, the clandestine agency that operated on the verges of Starfleet Intelligence in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. At that time, the agency was kept under wraps, and no one who wasn't involved with it knew or should have known about it. By the time Star Trek: Discovery introduced it, it seemed like everyone knew it existed, and the Paramount+ streaming channel movie, Section 31, didn't appear to keep it hidden as the final scene with Jamie Lee Curtis as Control took place in the middle of a bar where everyone and their brother could see it. So since Section 31 isn't a secret anymore, and it's been moved to the 32nd century, will we ever see it again in future series? And do we need to?

When Section 31 was utilized in Deep Space Nine, it was for a purpose, and it served that purpose well. Things got a little murkier when it came aboard the Enterprise on Star Trek: Enterprise, but it still remained hidden. Discovery didn't do such a good job at keeping the agency hush-hush, and since all of the Section 31 activities took place before Discovery was forced to time travel to the 32nd century, it would be harder to put the genie back in the bottle, so to speak.

All of this begs the question: what's the point of an agency that operates in the gray area if everyone knows about it? As Captain Jean-Luc Picard said, "The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based." Section 31 operates on distrust and lies, and since it has essentially outed itself, how will up and coming Starfleet cadets feel about Starfleet teaching one thing but clearly not adhering to its own truths?

Perhaps its time to dismantle Section 31 and let Starfleet Intelligence do its job within the bounds of the laws created by Starfleet. After all, there are few missions, if any, that can't be accomplished with a competent captain at the helm of a starship and a dedicated crew.
