Now, nearly all the best Treks won't cost fans a cent to watch.
Star Trek Day 2026 (Tuesday, Sept. 8) marks the 60th anniversary of the franchise that has boldly gone where no science fiction saga has gone before. And those fans who want to relive all the magic of exploring strange new worlds, which started with The Original Series episode “The Man Trap” (1966), won’t have to pay a cent now that Pluto TV is offering so many Treks for free to stream live or on demand.
Starting today (Friday, Aug. 14), Pluto TV will feature a special pop-up category that will include all 13 of Star Trek’s big-screen films along with seven channels dedicated to these beloved television shows: The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and one of my personal favorites, which is often vastly underrated, the Scott Bakula-led Enterprise.
Unfortunately, Star Trek: The Animated Series is not available on Pluto TV, nor are the newer Kurtzman Era shows: Discovery, Short Treks, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds, and Starfleet Academy.
Personally, I wish all five seasons of Lower Decks could be included, so those who are new to the fandom could discover and enjoy what is unquestionably one of the high-water marks of the Star Trek franchise in recent years.
Now, when it comes to the franchise’s theatrical releases, they too will have a designated channel (Star Trek: The Motion Pictures), but they’ll also be available on demand to watch at any time. Sorry, the streaming film Section 31 will not be included.
Additionally, Pluto TV will offer a Star Trek en Espanol channel.
Now, how long can Star Trek fans enjoy all the free content Pluto TV has to offer? Well, my source said via email, "the category will come down on Sept. 15, but the pop-up channels and content will stay up through the end of September!" So, there's plenty of time to celebrate 60 years of on-screen memories.
I can't wait to watch the Genesis Trilogy again (The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home). How about you?
