The first season of Star Trek: Picard was the arguably the least entertaining. However, the critics' reviews resulted in those 10 episodes being "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, and it was wonderful to have Patrick Stewart return to his iconic role as an older, bitter Jean-Luc Picard. However, seeing him as a mostly broken man wasn’t what many fans hoped for.
Jeri Ryan’s return as a bolder and action-oriented Seven of Nine during season 1 was a highlight. And then who can forget John de Lancie's importance to season 2 as Q? Nevertheless, despite the inclusion of these beloved characters, it took 20 episodes before the fandom got what they really wanted.
Season 3 was the full-on The Next Generation reunion we all wanted, bringing back the entire cast in surprising ways. And it was even better that the core seven actors didn't just return for cameos. Fans also got a thrilling story involving Changelings and the Borg.
Plus, Picard’s son, Jack Crusher, was an engaging character, and the series culminated in a slam-bam finale that was a fine closing note for the series. That last year alone made this show worth it, and co-creator Alex Kurtzman has to be recognized for giving fans what they wanted in the end: the perfect closing out for this Generation.
