Despite overwhelming success, some fans still complain about its sequels. However, there’s no denying 2009’s Star Trek represented the rebirth of the franchise. It was a daring risk as Trek had been mostly dead following the end of the Scott Bakula-led Enterprise series.

Then the film's executive producer, Alex Kurtzman, was able to revitalize the franchise alongside Roberto Orci and J.J. Abrams, co-writing the script for the big-screen movie that provided a genius time travel twist to The Original Series.

Getting Leonard Nimoy to return as the original Spock won over the many fans while still letting the cast explore fresh takes on the classic characters. Kurtzman, Abrams, and Orci's creativity and wit combined with the performances to make the film shine.

Abrams gets much of the credit for the summer blockbuster, yet Kurtzman was more crucial to the revival of Star Trek.
