3. Star Trek: Scouts

Star Trek: Scouts is the first content in the beloved sci-fi universe to focus on preschoolers as its primary audience. The short (four minutes or less) web-series-programmed episodes offer fantastic content for young children and their families to enjoy together, especially for Trekkies with kids.

The “Asteroid Blasters” installments each feature three eight-year-olds (JR, Roo, and Sprocket) who defend the Earth from incoming asteroids — of course — the likes of which Captain Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D never encountered in The Next Generation.

The youngsters are training to become future Starfleet explorers, and the talented trio faced everything from meatball asteroids to chalk asteroids to delicious cookie asteroids over Scouts’ first 10 episodes.

Star Trek: Scouts is definitely a high point for the sci-fi franchise in 2025, and it didn’t hurt that the kid-centric show threw in some fun Easter eggs, like when the kids encountered and worked with a Horta in episode 10. For those interested in watching the show with their children, the colorful and imaginative episodes can be found on the Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel.
