The upcoming Star Trek literally carries the weight of the franchise's name.

Plenty of juicy Star Trek news has broken recently, but one of the riskiest undertakings to be immortalized in the franchise's comic books sector is scheduled to drop this fall. Written by Christopher Cantwell and drawn by Dennis Menheere, this print production is a follow-up to the streaming series Picard.

And according to Cantwell, the comic book series simply titled Star Trek — no pressure — features the “boldest” artist to work on the franchise's comics “yet.” The author said in an interview with SYFY WIRE: “I love how much Paramount has embraced comics as a true art form. They have really let the artists come out swinging in recent years, and Dennis [Menheere] I believe is the boldest Star Trek artist to come aboard yet.”

Although Star Trek and SYFY WIRE’s official Instagram accounts haven’t shared the majority of the cover art for the upcoming comic books yet, fans can visit SYFY WIRE’S website and check out an exclusive first look at five very different variant covers and some exceptional panels from the comics themselves.

For those who aren’t familiar with the soon-to-be released Star Trek, the comic book takes place five years after the events of the Picard series finale, “The Last Generation.” Yes, Seven of Nine is the central character in the upcoming print follow-up, and the beloved half-human, half-Borg is still in command of the USS Enterprise-G, formerly the Titan-A.

I’m a huge fan of Seven, so I can’t wait to see the further adventures of the Enterprise-G, even if it’s in print rather than in cinemas or on a streaming series. Do you plan on reading Star Trek? Share your thoughts and comments with us on Seven of Nine’s return on the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages. And issue No. 1 goes on sale Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
