Sometimes, our favorite Star Trek franchise actors are just like us in that they'd love to see a return to certain series, and Deep Space Nine's Nana Visitor is no exception. In a recent interview with ScreenRant ,Visitor, who played Bajoran freedom fighter Kira Nerys, revealed she's very interested in what space station DS9 might look like today. Plus, the live-action reunion would include Captain Sisko's (Avery Brooks) voice. The actress said:
"Well, something that I've always seen is I'm still on the station, and Cirroc [Lofton] is there, and I'll even dream further that Avery's voice comes out of an orb, and we can both access that. That seems like a really interesting idea. I mean, it's a space station. It's just a wonderful, useful way to put people together, and different species together."
For those new to the Star Trek fandom, Cirroc Lofton portrayed Captain Sisko's son, Jake, on DS9. And thanks to Star Trek: Lower Decks, Colonel Kira Nerys returned to the small screen for the 2022 episode "Hear All, Trust Nothing," along with Armin Shimerman's Quark. Rom and Leeta (another Bajoran) have also made appearances in the animated show. However, a live-action reunion would be amazing, but there are some hurdles to clear.
Deep Space Nine actors we've lost since the series ended
While the individual who interviewed Visitor lamented about wanting this reunion as much as she did, unfortunately, we have lost several brilliant actors who co-starred with her. This includes Rene Auberjonois, who played Odo, and Aron Eisenberg, who played the Ferengi Nog. Both passed in 2019.
James Darren, the smooth-talking singing hologram, Vic Fontaine, left us in 2024. While Avery Brooks, our fearless Captain Sisko, is still with us, he is long retired from acting.
Actors that could return include Armin Shimerman (Quark), Michael Dorn (Worf), Colm Meaney (Chief O'Brien), Max Grodénchik (Rom), the dashing Alexander Siddig as Dr. Bashir, Cirroc Lofton as Jake Sisko, and a few others.
A reunion would definitely please fans
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is one of the most popular series in the franchise, with a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is one of the highest Tomatometer scores in the Star Trek franchise, so there's no doubt a reunion would please the fans.
I actually love Nana Visitor's vision for a reunion, especially with Kira and Jake speaking to Captain Sisko through a Bajoran orb. That's the stuff fan fiction is made of, and as someone who creates this type of content, it's a very exciting idea!
