Has The Doctor holographic heart hardened over the years?
Robert Picardo reprises his role as The Doctor in the upcoming series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. However, eight centuries may have hardened his holographic heart a bit. The last time Trekkies encountered the softer side of the EMH was in the must-see Star Trek: Prodigy, but time has taken its toll on the beloved character. But, in an interview at the streaming series’ premiere in New York City, Picardo assured fans that The Doctor is still a mentor, who just happens to be "a little arrogant sometimes, and a little full of himself." The veteran actor also said (via TrekMovie.com):
"The Doctor taught on Prodigy. I mean, if you think about the whole canon, The Doctor was teaching cadets in season 2 of Prodigy. So, I think it was a natural transition that he would want to continue to teach cadets. He also mentored Seven of Nine."
Picardo continued by saying:
"So, I think that he’s a natural teacher. He’s a little arrogant sometimes, and a little full of himself. And he also thinks he does everything very well. But I do not suffer fools gladly as a teacher or as an Emergency Medical Hologram." (Continued...)
