Chevy Chase's beloved character Clark Griswold once said, “If this isn't the biggest bag-over-the-head, punch-in-the-face I ever got!” Shame on the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences! Star Trek (1966-1969) has clearly been disrespected, and the ATAS needs to shore up their Emmys Legacy criteria before the award makes its debut.

And shame on anyone from the Television Academy who didn’t raise their hands, stand up, and voice their much-needed opinion by saying, “Hey, Star Trek won't qualify because of the criteria we put in place."

Share your thoughts and comments with us on how the ATAS dropped the ball like a Klingon drops a redshirt via our Facebook and X pages. Better yet, jump on social media and let Cris Abrego and the Television Academy know what a mistake it is that Star Trek: The Original Series can't qualify for the Emmys Legacy Award.

This year's Primetime Emmy Awards is scheduled for Sept. 14, 2026, and will be shown on NBC and Peacock.
