Star Trek fans finally get the announcement they’ve been waiting decades for

It's taken nearly 60 years, but Star Trek fans are about to see the franchise make history with an exciting new partnership.

It took nearly six decades, but Star Trek is finally partnering with one of the biggest toy brands in the world: LEGO. That’s right, we’re finally going to be getting official Star Trek LEGO thanks to a new partnership between the LEGO Group and Paramount!

In celebration of Star Trek Day, LEGO and Paramount announced their first-ever collaboration, which will bring fans the first-ever Star Trek LEGO sets. In announcing the partnership, both brands held back on the details with little known about the official release date for the Star Trek LEGO sets or what sets will be coming our way as part of this partnership.

What we do know is that it seems highly likely that one of the sets will feature characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation. This is because the official teaser video used to announce the partnership featured a LEGO minifigure that shared a striking resemblance to Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard.

Could we be getting a set inspired by the Enterprise-D? Perhaps a replica of the iconic ship or a model of the ship’s bridge? We’ve seen them bring Star Wars fans both elaborate sets inspired by the franchise’s most iconic spacecraft as well as sets inspired by key set pieces, so there’s no telling which this new partnership could bring.

While a set featuring The Next Generation seems certain, we’re hoping that the Star Trek LEGO line will pull inspiration from multiple shows in the franchise. We’d love to see a set featuring Kirk, Spock and the rest of the crew from The Original Series, just as we’d love to see sets inspired by more modern-era shows such as Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The options are truly endless, and there’s no denying that these sets are going to be must-haves for collectors!

Sure, we’ve seen Star Trek building sets in the past with partnerships from brands such as Mega Bloks, but this will be the first time fans will have the chance to purchase official Star Trek LEGO building sets. Getting official LEGO Minifigures inspired by the characters we hold so close to our hearts is something we had almost given up hope of ever seeing, and we cannot wait to see what they’re cooking up.

The sets are sure to fly off the shelves, especially if LEGO and Paramount time this right. Just imagine how fast these sets will fly off the shelves if they drop them in time for the holiday season. They’d surely be at the top of every Star Trek fan’s Christmas wishlist and be the must-have gift of the holiday season. Though we’re pretty sure LEGO will have no problem selling these Star Trek sets regardless of when they’re released!
