Star Trek fans may be about to get some incredible news. After a year that was both up and down for Trek fans, a new rumor has sparked a level of excitement that we don't usually see that often. Now, it's just a rumor and it should only be taken as such, but according to a few Twitter accounts, Star Trek could be set to receive their first-ever Lego set.
The rumor comes from a person named "Max Baut", and is relayed through the Trek Central Twitter/X account. The rumor claims that the first ever Lego build will be of the USS Enterprsie-D and will feature the minifigures of the Enterprise-D main crew. So that means Jean-Luc Picard, William Riker, Deanna Troi,W orf, Geordi La Forge, Beverly Crusher, and Data.
The ship's build is claimed to be of about 3,600 pieces, or just shy of the Lego X-Men Mansion with just shy of about 3,100 pieces.
Star Trek is one of the few massive brands that Lego just hasn't done much work with. It's not because off the brick-building brand's partnership with Star Wars either. Lego does work with many competing brands, namely DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Yet, for some reason, Lego and Star Trek have never found a way to work together to create ships for the fandom.
And of all the brands that Lego could work with, Star Trek is the perfect one. They are a vehicle machine. There are so many ships and space stations you could use to make new building sets. The Enterprise-D, the original Enterprise from Star Trek: The Original Series, Deep Space Nine and of course the USS Voyager all strike me as ships and such that would have a huge following.
We know they'd do well with them, as Star Trek has been doing business with Blue Brixx for a while to much success. The brand Blue Brixx however isn't well known stateside, at least compared to Lego. The Germran-owned brand has done well with Star Trek over the last few years, releasing dozens of brick-building kits for fans to build.
Everything from the Enterprise to Quark himself. Blue Brixx has done a great job creating a diverse and dynamic line of builds, and has made them relatively inexpensive. The prices range from $10 to about $200 or so depending on the size of the build. If Lego is making their first Star Trek line of ships, then they're going to have to bring their A-game.
