8. Star Trek (2009)
The Kelvin timeline reboot is big, loud, and full of lens flares, but if you look past all the commotion, there is a story about how to deal with grief and loss in a family. In the 2009 movie Star Trek, Jim Kirk goes from being lost and alone to joining a crew that sees his potential and won't let him burn out. Spock's emotional path, which goes from being angry and unhappy to choosing connection above revenge, mirrors Kirk’s journey.
The movie creates a family that appears capable of handling anything together by the time the Enterprise crew arrives at the bridge. That feeling of belonging is what brings about the Christmas spirit: people from different origins and with different problems learning to trust each other and move on together.
