Conclusion
Surviving Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's deadly “Empok Nor” episode requires recognizing when trust becomes dangerous without pretending that trust was foolish from the beginning.
O’Brien needs Garak’s knowledge to enter the station, then must rely on his own judgment to escape him. The chief gets home by refusing Garak’s preferred battle, but the consequences follow both men out of the darkness.
