3. Protect a teammate without ignoring the danger
Archer does his best to keep T’Pol calm as they navigate the damaged cruiser. The captain reassures her and tries to keep the subcommander focused on getting everyone out, but her behavior becomes increasingly unpredictable. Archer can see that something is wrong, even as the situation makes it harder to know how much he can trust her.
Eventually, T’Pol draws a phase-pistol set to kill. Convinced that Archer intends to take revenge on Vulcans for interfering with his father's work, she turns the weapon on him. Archer tries to talk her down before finding a chance to disarm her.
The confrontation puts Archer in a difficult position. T’Pol isn't choosing to behave this way, but the danger she poses is real. The captain must protect himself and the rest of the team without treating a poisoned crewmate like an enemy who deserves punishment.
Later, the team reaches a gap in the damaged floor and improvises a makeshift bridge. T’Pol refuses to cross with Archer and becomes aggressive again. With time running out, Archer stuns her and carries her across the gap.
It's hardly an ideal solution, but waiting for T’Pol to cooperate could put everyone at risk. Archer takes responsibility for her safety when she can no longer make sound decisions for herself. Sometimes, protecting a crewmate means recognizing that the person needs help, even when they can't accept it.
