Check out the new poster and boldly go back to theaters this fall.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is widely regarded as one of the best films of the franchise, and November 26, 2026 marks its 40th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, a new movie poster has been released, courtesy of Empire, which fans can check out below. And the beloved sequel is returning to theaters this fall, but there's a catch.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is heading back to UK cinemas this September to celebrate its 40th anniversary, complete with a gorgeous brand-new poster by Matt Ferguson.

And now here is the catch. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, The Voyage Home’s return to cinemas this fall in stellar 4K is limited only to an international release in the United Kingdom beginning on Friday, Sept. 4, and tickets are now on sale (per Empire).
The new movie poster includes many key elements from the beloved film, including, of course, Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) and Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy) materialized from a transporter beam, ready to walk the streets of San Francisco, with the Golden Gate Bridge off to the left and sweeping through the background.
Dr. Gillian Taylor’s (Catherine Hicks) pickup truck can be seen on the far left of the new Voyage Home poster, and soaring overhead the stolen Klingon Bird-of-Prey is clearly visible and leaving its warp trail above the Earth in space.
Personally, my favorite touch is the fact that artist Matt Ferguson included the young mohawked punk (Kirk R. Thatcher) who was blaring his boom box too loudly on the same public transit Kirk and Spock were riding on during the movie.
As Star Trek fans already know, Spock uses the Vulcan nerve pinch on the punk to knock him out after he refuses Kirk’s request to turn the music down. Of course, everyone applauds Spock’s actions as the noise comes to an end. However, in the new poster, the punk is sitting on a park bench (right side of the image), which never happened in the film.
For those who aren’t as familiar with Star Trek, the mohawked punk returned in the second season of Picard for a hilarious cameo. Again, he is playing his music too loudly on public transportation. This time around, though, Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) asks him to turn down the noise — and he immediately complies, not wanting to endure what Spock put him through yet again. Lesson learned!
Finally, the “O” in the word “Voyage” on the new Star Trek poster has been replaced with the eye of the probe that has returned to Earth in the must-see movie to communicate with the whales, in this case the humpbacks named George and Gracie.
I love the new poster, but I’m disappointed to hear that The Voyage Home is only scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom and not elsewhere around the globe, particularly in the United States. However, I’m willing to wager that US screenings will also pop up as we get closer to the film’s actual anniversary in November.
