Dichotomy of acting & directing in Star Trek
While Jonathan Frakes was in his mid-30s when he signed on to play William Riker in The Next Generation, he probably never imagined he'd be directing the franchise actors of this generation.
The two roles are quite different, yet they can touch through creativity and fresh ideas from both sides. Who knows? Maybe 30 years from now, George Hawkins will direct a future franchise hit.
