3. The Augment dissension

One of the more intriguing touches of the storyline is that Khan's people, the Augments, aren't all unified into a grand family. There are issues among them, especially from Hugo, who blames Khan for this whole exile and is already making plans against him.

Khan also scolds some of the younger Augments who attacked a weaker member, Joachim, for being half-human and half-Augment. Showing Khan's "way with words" on television to diffuse the situation, as opposed to using his physical strength, would be intriguing. However, it's the moment afterward when Khan gives Joachim his sword and dubs the boy his "young champion" for all to see that would have stole the show on a TV series.

There’s also Marla discovering that the Augments have a sterility problem, leading her to worry she’s been brought for breeding purposes only, while most of Khan's people see her as an inferior interloper. Marla’s terror at realizing she may have made the wrong choice accompanying Khan to Ceti Alpha V would have been important, setting up another big moment for the show.
