5. Sylvana's creepy encounter with a Ceti eel
The Ceti eel has been freaking out Trek fans since we first saw it in The Wrath of Khan. A small insect whose size belies the horrors it bestows. The introduction in this episode is more chilling for how low-key it is. When Sylvana is attacked, it’s quick, with no one realizing the danger the eel is. In live-action, we’d get a shot of the eel slowly crawling up her leg before sinking in as it did in the podcast.
The fact that the audience knows what the eel does and the characters don’t is the real horror. We know Richter is likely infected since he has disappeared and how dangerous that will be. The episode ends with Khan racing to find Richter, unaware of his greater challenges, and a live-action take would spark this incredible moment even more.
