4. Khan remembering rain
Ceti Alpha V is such an important piece of Star Trek lore because audiences know what it eventually becomes: a desolate, unforgiving world whose devastation defines Khan’s future.
“Do Your Worst” finds emotional power in the contrast between that knowledge and Khan’s memories of a more hopeful colony. He remembers rain nourishing fields, turning paths to mud, and giving the young people around him a rare chance to feel joy.
That material could become one of the most beautiful sequences in a live-action episode. A visual adaptation could move between warm flashbacks of rainfall, improvised crops, and children racing through the mud, then return to the colony’s increasingly dry and hostile present. No dialogue would be necessary for every beat. The images alone could show what Khan and his followers are trying to preserve.
It would also make Ceti Alpha V feel like more than the setting for Khan’s revenge story. The planet is the place where he builds a life with Marla and tries to establish a community. Showing that lost potential would give more weight to the disaster that follows. Ceti Alpha VI’s eventual explosion shifts Ceti Alpha V’s orbit and transforms it into the wasteland later seen in The Wrath of Khan.
