Star Trek: Khan 'Magical Thinking' needs to be adapted into a TV episode (and this is why)

Marla’s phaser, the Ceti eel queen, and Khan and Marla’s wedding make “Magical Thinking” a natural fit for a visual Star Trek story.

4. Marla’s pregnancy changes the stakes

Marla reveals that she is pregnant to Khan, which changes the emotional stakes for both her and Khan. Khan’s desire to protect the colony now has a personal dimension, while Marla has another reason to question his willingness to put himself at risk.

The revelation would work best as a quieter scene amid the episode’s larger survival plot. It gives the relationship room to breathe and shows why Khan’s decisions affect more than his authority as colony leader.

Marla’s pregnancy also gives the colony another tangible reason to think about its future rather than merely enduring one crisis at a time, as both her and Madot are now with child.
