1. 'Eternity’s Face' (Episode 9)

The series finale has to be the topper for all the shocks and power it provides. Khan’s plans to escape Ceti Alpha V are derailed when Ivan returns and sparks a revolt among the Augments realizing their leader is going to abandon them. The audio of the fight between the two warriors is thrilling as the four-seat escape vessel, the Venture, launches, only for Khan to believe a tragedy occurred.

The moment where Khan finally loses his hold on sanity is both heartbreaking and terrifying as we hear the exact instant his madness takes over: believing his daughter, Kali, died when the Venture supposedly exploded in the atmosphere.

Andrews doesn't cut loose completely but instead shows a realistic breakdown, driving Khan to madness. That leads us to the close of the framing device with the truth about Lear revealed: she is Kali Noonien Singh. Tim Russ has a wonderful air as Tuvok. The Vulcan unravels her secret and then helps her cope with what she’s discovered regarding Khan, Marla, and even herself.

It all ends on a beautiful note, a classic poem. That’s the perfect capper to the tale of a man who fell hard and how he ended up becoming the monster seen in The Wrath of Khan. It also fleshes out Star Trek's greatest villain and makes the Khan podcast a tale far better than most Trek fare presented over the last decade.
