9. 'Scheherazade' (Episode 2)

The second episode is mostly on the quiet side. That’s strange, given there’s a hunting expedition that culminates in the death of an Augment, which adds some thrills. There is also more character development in the Khan/Marla relationship, as she invokes the old mantra that “history is written by the victors,” and Khan is insulted that he’s portrayed as the defeated villain.

Andrews grows into the role of Khan, putting his own stamp on it while at times reminding you of Ricardo Montalban at his best (and worst). Schmidt also shows the backbone of her character Marla interacting with Khan and how her passion helps win him over.

There is the introduction of the Ceti eels and Khan’s defiance of the fates, both elements that become far more important later. Plus, the death of Joaquin is heartbreaking, so just consider how good the whole podcast is given this is its weakest episode.
