8. 'The Good of All' (Episode 6)
This installment builds on the new partnership of the Augments and the alien Elboreans amid Ceti Alpha VI's destruction. Once more, we see Khan’s reluctance to trust anyone outside himself, with even Marla having a hard time getting him to open up. That’s not helped by the battle to survive, with Khan's people feeling the pressure and his first lieutenant, Ivan, making a horrific move to try and assert power, which backfires big time.
The telepathic Elbs are beings much like the Augments. They too fled their world as outcasts, and this is a clever narrative touch to connect the two groups further. The banter between Khan and the Elbs leader, Delmonda, is a terrific balance of two similar beings. However, Ivan murdering an Elb is one of this episode's most unforgettable moments, and the threads to bigger plotlines are there to enjoy thanks to the top writing.
