A weekend in the life of a Star Trek fan at STLV

August of 2025, I was fortunate enough to attend the ST:LV: Trek to Vegas convention with my husband Nick; a fellow Trekkie, and my adventure companion. As Vegas locals, it was an easy decision and one we had somehow been putting off since we moved to the city. While we had both attended conventions, and even cosplayed before, this would be our first Star Trek convention.

Soon we secured tickets and were spending our free time finding the last few items for our cosplays. We planned different uniforms for each day of the con, and I was particularly excited to cosplay Kathryn Janeway. The Voyager jumpsuit I had purchased needed to be tailored, and I also sewed in some shoulder pads to achieve the squared shouldered look of Captain Janeway.

I don't know how Janeway did that bun of steel, but I think computers must have been involved. As I don't have access to this still unknown 24th century technology, I went to my friend and hairdresser, Sean, for his expertise. Being a Trekkie himself, he was thrilled to help me achieve the look. With my appointment scheduled, we were ready and counting down the days.
