Bon voyage to Star Trek's Kelvin Timeline films

All three film installments in the Kelvin Timeline series from J.J. Abrams are leaving Netflix on Jan. 1, 2026. Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) are without question my favorites, and both are worthy viewing multiple time. However, while most critics enjoyed Star Trek Beyond (2016), I’d just assume that movie end up marooned on Ceti Alpha V — it has absolutely NO redeeming qualities. By the way, that trainwreck of a flick is likely the very reason fans never received Star Trek 4. Talk about your all-time movie dumpster fires! Heck, even Idris Elba could save it.

Share your thoughts and comments with us on the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages. And be sure to check out Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness, and the must-see Star Trek: Prodigy before they leave Netflix on Jan. 1, 2026.

The three Kelvin Timeline movies are all available to stream on Paramount Plus, too. However, Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 and season 2 are only available via physical media or through the usual VOD sites. Those interested can buy both seasons on Fandango at Home for around $30, and individual episodes can be purchased starting at $1.99 each.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
