5. Data’s death | Nemesis

Lieutenant Commander Data sacrifices his life to save Captain Picard and destroy the Scimitar's thalaron radiation weapon. At the end of the movie, Data learns that the only way to prevent the weapon from destroying all life on the Enterprise and the nearby Romulan fleet is to destroy it from within the Scimitar.

Data literally leaps from the Enterprise to Shinzon's ship, uses an emergency transporter beacon to beam Picard to safety, and fires his phaser on the thalaron generator.

The entire character arc of Data in The Next Generation was about what it means to be human. Data shows the most human characteristic of all in his ultimate act of sacrificing himself for others, which makes the scenario all the more agonizing.
