Happy Thanksgiving from the Redshirts Always Die family!
Every movie series has certain mistakes, and Star Trek is no exception. Even while fans may make fun of these turkeys at watch parties, a movie's reputation isn't always fair. Even though there are problems with the production, concepts that aren't clear, or just being compared to more famous masterpieces, some Trek movies are worth seeing again.
Fans and critics alike didn't like these five Trek movies, which are from The Original Series, The Next Generation, and the Kelvin Timeline. But they're still better than you might remember.
1. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (TOS)
The Final Frontier is often regarded as the weakest movie in the series, but it deserves a more nuanced appraisal. William Shatner wanted to make a movie that asked big questions about God, faith, and the depths of friendship, but the budget and story were too big for the movie to handle.
The story gives the crew a task to go to the center of the galaxy, causes Spock to have a fight with his family, and has some incredibly strange moments (“Why does God need a starship?”). Still, what really strikes you is how well Kirk, Spock, and McCoy get along, especially in the scenes with the campfire. This Trek adventure movie has heart and fun that make it worth seeing again.
