4. Spock and Data create an emotional mirror
While attempting to bypass some Romulan security coding within their informational network, Picard excuses himself to take a few moments and remove his Romulan disguise. Spock remarks that Picard seems almost like a Vulcan and it's no wonder Sarek chose to mind-meld with him.
When Data mentions that Picard is his role model for being human, this starts a conversation of "You're the reflection of who I want to be," and whether it is better to experience emotions than repress them with the Vulcan creed of logic. I'm amazed the universe didn't collapse in on itself when Spock summed up his Vulcan life with a human expression! What a fantastic bridge between TOS and TNG!
