3. 'Mirror, Mirror' scenes | Star Trek: The Original Series

Nichelle Nichols received plenty of screen time in one of the best episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series, “Mirror, Mirror.” And Lt. Uhura got the opportunity to save the day not once but twice. First, in order for Scotty to access the power the landing party needed to return to their own universe, Uhura diverted Mirror Sulu's attention from his security board with some spicy and saucy feminine wiles. Nichols even got to screen-slap her co-star George Takei, while Uhura told Mirror Sulu off, and then draw her dagger on the ISS Enterprise’s security chief as a final insult. The diversion worked!
Last, but certainly not least, Uhura saved the day in the transporter room while she, Captain Kirk, and Mr. Scott waited patiently for Dr. McCoy in order to make their escape. Unfortunately, Mirror Marlena tried to wreck the getaway by drawing a phaser and threatening the landing party, unless she could travel back with them. Before anyone knew what was happening, especially Marlena, Uhura ripped the weapon out of her clutches and took Marlena's dagger for good measure.
This is without question my favorite Uhura moment from The Original Series. However, I realize the importance of the character’s on-screen kiss with Captain Kirk in “Plato’s Stepchildren,” as well as her taking command of the USS Enterprise during the crisis of “The Lorelei Signal” in Star Trek: The Animated Series. So, despite her two heroic, action-packed scenes, that is why this Uhura moment slips to No. 3 on the Redshirts Always Die ranking.
