2. Taking command of the Enterprise | Star Trek: The Animated Series

Immortality came at much too high a cost in the Star Trek: The Animated Series episode, “The Lorelei Signal,” but it did lead to a milestone for one worthy Starfleet officer. Unfortunately, many casual fans missed this incredible, penultimate moment for Nichelle Nichols’ Lt. Uhura because it happened in a cartoon format rather than live-action TV.
After the men aboard the USS Enterprise, including Captain Kirk, fell victim to a race of female beings who fed on the lifeforce of males to remain forever young, Uhura assumed command of our beloved Federation vessel for the first time ever! In Star Trek: The Original Series, Spock, Scotty, or Sulu all had the opportunity to sit the captain’s chair as its commander... but never Uhura.
That scene of Uhura taking command could have, and probably would have, gone done as Nichols’ most memorable moment portraying Nyota Uhura in Star Trek history. However, it is sadly relegated to second place because of a tiny little television kiss.
