“The Menagerie, Part I” first aired on November 17, 1966, and it is the first half of The Original Series' only two‑part story. It still feels remarkably bold: a courtroom drama, a mystery, and a secret TOS pilot remix all wrapped around Mr. Spock committing the unthinkable: mutiny for the sake of a former captain.
