On Saturday, April 25, Star Trek fans at over 50 events around the country will join the fight against pancreatic cancer through PurpleStride walks hosted by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).

Once again, Team Trek, which consists of team members Jonathan Frakes, Armin Shimerman, John Billingsley, Juan Carlos Coto, and Kitty Swink, is asking for help in their efforts to raise awareness and funds against this deadly disease.

“The three of us – Armin, Kitty, and Jonathan joined forces with PanCAN a few years ago to use our voices to amplify the fight against pancreatic cancer,” a statement from PanCan’s official website reads in support of this year’s fundraising efforts.

The statement from the Trekkers continues as follows:

“Shortly after, John Billingsley joined the team and soon after that, Juan Carlos Coto jumped in! We were overwhelmed with what we were able to accomplish along with our Trek family! In 2024, Trek Against Pancreatic Cancer was the #1 team in the country raising nearly $250,000! So, we are back to raise money, raise awareness, and raise hope - as well as raising the survival rate for pancreatic cancer as a part of PanCAN PurpleStride 2026!”

Team Trek came into this year’s fight against pancreatic cancer with the goal of raising $150,000. And I’m happy to report that on the eve (April 24) of this year’s PurpleStride walks, Frakes, Shimerman, Billingsley, Coto, and Swink’s team has already raised over $168,000!

Team Trek’s PurpleStride walk will take place at the Santa Monica Pier in California, but there are nearly 60 PurpleStride events being held around the country, including walks in New York City, Chicago, and Boston. For a full list of locations where you can join the fight against pancreatic cancer, please visit PanCAN’s official website.

Can’t make it to a PurpleStride event on April 25? No problem! You can join the fight by making a donation through PanCAN’s website right now.
